Homeland Security conference focuses on terrorism prevention and response | 10.25.2006 | 03:57:51 | Views: 6311 | ID: October 25 '06: Federal, state, local and tribal officials from all over the US will gather in New Mexico for a three-day homeland security conference in Albuquerque that will focus on responding to and preparing for a terrorist attack the New Mexico Business Weekly reported Tuesday. The Fifth Annual Homeland Security Conference is working in collaboration with the Albuquerque Police Department, Sandia Laboratories and Los Alamos National Laboratory among others. According to the business journal, "national experts will discuss ways to prepare for, prevent and respond to the threat of a terrorist attack." Among the speakers at the event, US Senator Pete Domenici, (R-NM) and Albuquerque Mayor Martin Chavez will share the podium with Rio Rancho Mayor Kevin Jackson and the Bernalillo County Sheriff Darren White. More than 2000 first responders and public safety officials have participated in the conference since 2001 as well as 200 agencies from 40 states, the NM Business Weekly reported.
