Emergency preparedness guide for animal caregivers | 06.21.2007 | 08:33:34 | Views: 5593 | ID: June 21 '07: The American Microchip Advisory Council for Animals has announced a new disaster preparedness manuel for veterinarians and other animal caregivers called the "An Emergency Management Guide", a press release announced. The guide "aids state animal response teams, shelters and veterinarians in their plan for responding to natural or manmade disasters." Officials from AMACA said in the press release that federal aid for state and local governments under the Pets Evacuation and Transportation Standards Act of 2006 require that emergency response plans incorporate domesticated pet and animal contingencies. The new guide helps local and state governments fill those requirements. AMACA has also "announced membership approval to establish a national Call Center and database to facilitate reuniting displaced and lost pet [sic] with their families," the press release continued.(Click below to download file) amaca-emergency-guide-v15.pdf
