International Bottled Water Association preps for National Preparedness Month | 08.28.2007 | 06:00:20 | Views: 5768 | ID: August 28 '07: The International Bottled Water Association has announced a federal, state and local emergency response directory for its industry members to use to help distribute supplies for recovery operations. The new directory's availability comes in preparation of September's National Preparedness Month. The online response directory was developed after Hurricane Katrina. IBWA President and CEO Joseph K. Doss said in the press release, "Hurricane Katrina was a tremendous eye-opener for government officials, emergency response officials, communities, and industry, alike. ... We saw how critical bottled water is for disaster-striken communities and the importance of a coordinated, effective response to get drinking water to people in need." The IBWA recommends there be at least one gallon per person per day for three days in each household. Water should be kept at room temperature; away from direct sunlight and chemicals; and that the water be replaced every six months. Containers holding tap water should be cleansed using a ten-to-one water/chlorine bleach solution before use.(Click below to download file) international-bottled-water-assoc.pdf
