The LISC's event in May focused on connecting attendees' communities "to the resources, strategies, policies, practices and connections that will be valuable for ... disaster preparedness, mitigation, and recovery planning and implementation." Topics at the conference included business retention and recovery; mutual aid agreements; capacity building; public-private partnerships; infrastructure, utility systems and vulnerable populations; technology and communications (both wireless and land-based); environmental restoration; and public health and safety. On its website, LISC said the conference helped to focus resources for those who are engaged in rebuilding communities after disasters: "Rebuilding a community after a disaster takes time, sometimes a very long time. This conference focuses on how to keep the momentum going, and helps links communities together for mutual support." Corporate partners of the conference included the National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration, Fannie Mae, Wells Fargo Home Mortgage, the Environmental Protection Agency, the International Code Council, and CDM - a global construction and engineering firm.(Click below to download file) 2007_restoration_brochure.pdf
