Blu-Med deploys portable centers of operation for medical response in the field | 11.13.2007 | 12:16:14 | Views: 8428 | ID: November 13 '07: In August of this year, Blu-Med Response Systems was able to assemble a 30,000 square-foot Mobile Field Hospital, which is similar to a Combat Support Hospital. According to the press release, the 200-bed MFH was assembled 12 hours ahead of schedule during the California Rough & Ready 2007 Exercise. The portable medical response complex includes "an operating suite, intensive care units, mobile lab and radiology units, patient ward space, and staff housing, and state-of-the-art mobile medical equipment," and it can "be ready to receive patients within 72 hours of an event," the press release reported. First reported in August, state officials said they were happy with the speed with which responders could assemble the structures. California Governor Arnold Schwarzenegger said, "When disaster strikes, being prepared is key to saving lives. The State's new mobile field hospitals and our trained volunteer emergency responders are going to help prepare California to quickly and effectively provide emergency services during a major medical disaster." The Rough & Ready Exercise "one of the largest in California history, tapped agencies and emergency responders from across the state, and tested the vendor-managed support contract with Blu-Med Response Systems," the press release read.
