North Carolina community consolidates emergency services | 12.28.2007 | 08:35:43 | Views: 6093 | ID: December 28 '07: The Rocky Mount Telegram in North Carolina reported that the local emergency services management has been working on consolidating its ambulance groups in Nash County which has resulted "in good employees, standardizing training and equipment." Brian Brantley, the director of emergency services for Nash County told the Telegram, among the administrative changes, the county was looking to update its technology as well: "We are looking at consistent service throughout the county. ... The system we have now is a good system, but it's outdated. ... It does not provide us the records we would like to have ... and so we are looking at a new 911 phone system." An emergency services drill "is scheduled for the first quarter of 2008 to teach Nash County employees how to work in an emergency operations center," the Telegram reported. "The center includes computers and telephones and serves as a hub for requests from local agencies, which are passed on to state and federal governments." Brantley told the Telegram the drills, upgrades and departmental moves have helped to focus resource and manpower while using other communities' capabilities to augment Nash County abilities.
