Bank of America offers loan, credit and other financial assistance after California fires | 01.10.2008 | 11:14:21 | Views: 5959 | ID: January 10 '08: In a press release, Bank of American said late last fall it had worked to help provide financial services for those affected by the Southern California wildfires. The services included a series of loan extensions, credit increases, assistance for existing loans, a toll-free bilingual telephone number for assistance and donations made though the Bank of American Charitable Foundation. In addition to the emergency financial services, the bank waived fees at more than 200 ATMs in San Diego County. Donations from the bank's foundation totaled $1 million. But though ATM fees were waived, non-customers were only allowed to pull $200 daily from the machines. Janet Lamkin, the president of Bank of America California said in the press release, "This is one of the most devastating wildfires in the history of our state, and Bank of America is making its full resources available to aid the families, businesses and communities most affected. ... We will continue to monitor the impact of the fires on our customers, our associates and the Southern California communities to ensure that we are doing everything we can to help." Specs of the increased services included: receiving credit line increases; modifying, deferring or extending payments for loans, credit cards or lines of credit; giving access to special equity programs which allows customers to be protected from additional fees on new loans; avoiding bank penalties on late payments; and new access for changes to certain types of mortgages.
