Mine Safety Appliance gives equipment to PA communities during floods | 01.24.2008 | 12:50:12 | Views: 6380 | ID: January 24 '08: Mine Safety Appliances partnered with regional state officials in Southwestern Pennsylvania in 2004 when some of the worst flooding in decades inundated communities. MSA delivered "approximately 6,000 air-purifying respirators, along with safety eyewear, coveralls and first aid kits." MSA partnered with the regional American Red Cross office to distribute the supplies which were used by residents in the area who were cleaning up after the rains. The donated equipment helped those "involved in flood clean-up from exposure to non-toxic dust, mold and mold spores generated from excess water." Located in Pittsburgh, PA, MSA employs about 4,500 people and "maintains operations that extend around the world." On its website, the company said, "MSA's Senior Management and employees in all locations are committed to strengthening their local communities," the the company's Charitable Foundation which "manages volunteer efforts, monetary, and other types of donations to area communities."
