Navy builds information exchange | 03.07.2008 | 09:33:12 | Views: 5926 | ID: March 7 '08: The Navy has partnered with Northrop Grumman to build the Law Enforcement Information Exchange, also known as LInx, the Washington Post reported. The system currently joins more than 400 law enforcement agencies together. Linx is also used by 100 police agencies in the National Capital Region. The Post's story included several other examples of current information-sharing systems which have been set up by law enforcement agencies around the country in an attempt to link together bits of information on criminal and terrorist-related activity into a coherent picture which could help agencies create safer communities, officials have said. Those systems include National Data Exchange System (N-Dex), Coplink, and LInx. According to the Navy's website, LInx is "built with open standards and leverages the existing technology to integrate diverse sytems. An open standards architecture that is flexible, scalable, sharable, and posses the ability to enhance current systems" with whom it can interface.
