Companies partner to create pollution response and training depots | 03.12.2008 | 12:19:09 | Views: 6168 | ID: March 12 '08: To help respond to oil and chemical pollution disasters, two Canadian companies have created a new partnership which will establish emergency response equipment depots around the world as well as allow personnel access to pre-existing training centers, a press release announced. The Swire Group and Lamor Corporation partnership will be able to handle Tier I - Tier III oil spills. "The joint venture will also have access to the Swire Marine Training Centre which will become a centre of excellence for comprehensive pollution management training as part of the overall service offering," the press release read. "Operationally, the joint venture is presently establishing strategically located cross-globe emergency response Depots capable of offering guaranteed, safe, rapid and overlapping access to Tier II and Tier III oil spill protection and combat resources," the release continued. The ships and crew in the new partnership "will be equipped to handle the additional oil spill equipment and our officers and crews will be specifically trained in pollution response," SPO Managing Director JB Rae-Smith said in the press release.
