Portable water filtration and moveable base camp solutions | 05.01.2008 | 11:00:38 | Views: 6294 | ID: May 1 '08: Wired Mag previewed several products which seek to help emergency and disaster response professionals using up-to-date technology. Among the most notable were the portable water filtration devices, and the disaster-reconnaissance trailer. Both technologies are now available on the market for immediate use. The LifeSaver Bottle was developed to be able to provide more than 1,500 gallons of water before its filters need to be replaced. "The bottle was inspired by the aftermath of Hurricane Katrina when visiting businessman Michael Pritchard found that thousands of survivors couldn't access clean water," Wired wrote. "The only drawback seems to be that it doesn't work in freezing temperatures." Additionally, Campa USA's ATT and DRS trailers allow trucks and jeeps to be customized for a kitchen, tent compartment for four to six persons along with shower capability (depending on the option), fluorescent lamps, propane tanks and heavy duty battery among other items. According to Campa's home website the Campa ATT & DRS unites are specifically designed for disaster and emergency reconnaissance.
