VMware releases disaster management software | 05.15.2008 | 09:27:37 | Views: 5808 | ID: May 15 '08: VMware has announced two new management and automation products "designed to streamline disaster recovery and curb virtual server sprawl," NetworkWorld reported. "The bundles," NetworkWorld continued, "include several previously released products built on top of VMware's virtualization software." One of the products, Site Recovery Manager allows IT and management "create, update and document recovery plants in the VMware VirtualCenter management interface," the technology zine reported. The software will automate disaster recovery plans and "failover and recovery in the event of a disaster." The second product, Stage Manager helps to reduce virtual server sprawl - a phenomenon when many users copy a virtual machine to prop up in case of server failure. In some cases, if server management is not kept in check, hundreds of virtual machines can overwhelm a server while users are trying to restore their IT operations.
